An illegal multi-day rave took place on fields beside the River Trent near Sturton-le-Steeple over the bank holiday weekend, with music audible for miles on both sides of the river and hundreds of ravers descending on the area in 32-degree heat.

The event, known as the Resonance Teknival, ran from Thursday 22 May to Sunday 25 May across fields near the Nottinghamshire village, drawing crowds who camped out for the duration of the weekend. Police attended the site but did not shut the festival down.

Residents in the surrounding area reported significant disruption throughout the weekend, with heavy vehicles making their way through the village of Sturton-le-Steeple and ravers carrying backpacks cutting through the village on foot to reach the site.

Damage and Clean-Up

In the aftermath, the organisers have launched a crowdfunding effort under the name UK Resonance 2026, with a target of £5,000 to cover the costs of the event's impact.

Of that total, £1,000 is earmarked for waste collection, with large quantities of rubbish reported to have been left on the site. The remaining £4,000 is intended to go directly to the landowner, who is said to have suffered financial losses due to damage caused to hay fields on the property.

Local Reaction

The event has drawn frustration from local residents, with many raising concerns about the traffic, noise and disruption to village life over what was already a busy bank holiday weekend. The Idle Valley Nature Reserve and surrounding countryside are valued by local communities, and events of this kind raise ongoing questions about the protection of rural land in the area.

No arrests or further police action have been reported at this stage.
